Create an app for your store in Shopify, grant the agreed access and have NexReply set up and check the connection to your store.
Have your Shopify domain ready, for example yourshop.myshopify.com, and a Shopify account that can create and install an app in the Dev Dashboard. Agree with NexReply which data and any order actions are required.
The app and the store must belong to the same Shopify organisation if they will be connected with a Client ID and Client secret. If you are unsure, ask NexReply to check this with you first.
Sign in to Shopify with an account that can develop and install apps. Open the Dev Dashboard for the organisation that owns your store.
Go to Apps, choose Create app and then Start from Dev Dashboard. Give the app a recognisable name, such as NexReply connection.
Review with NexReply which data and actions are required. The scope list below is the starting point; some scopes require separate Shopify approval.
Create a version of your app. Use the video and steps below to set the scopes, release the version and install the app on the correct store.
This 2-minute, 53-second recording shows how to select scopes in the Dev Dashboard, release a version and approve the updated access in Shopify. Written instructions follow below.
The recording shows where permissions are configured. The scopes agreed for NexReply are listed below. Some require separate Shopify approval or belong to a different API surface.
In the Shopify Dev Dashboard, open the app configured for your connection. Go to Versions and choose Create version.
Under API access, choose Select scopes. Find and select the agreed permissions, then click Done.
Review the settings and click Release. Keep URLs and other settings as agreed for your connection.
Go to the app overview, choose Install app and select the correct store. Review the permissions and confirm with Install or Update. Releasing a version alone does not grant updated access.
The following Admin API scopes have been specified for the agreed NexReply connection:
read_all_orders, read_assigned_fulfillment_orders, read_customers, read_fulfillments, read_inventory, write_order_edits, read_order_edits, read_orders, write_orders, read_products, read_returns and write_discounts.
The following Customer Account API scopes have also been specified:
customer_write_customers, customer_read_customers, customer_read_orders and customer_write_orders.
Customer Account API scopes do not replace Admin API scopes. read_all_orders extends access beyond the most recent 60 days of orders and requires separate Shopify approval. Write scopes are only for the agreed actions. Confirm with NexReply which scopes the relevant app version can actually request and which require additional Shopify approval.
After installing your app, open its settings in the Shopify Dev Dashboard and find the Client ID and Client secret. Ask NexReply for a secure transfer link if you need to provide these details, and include the myshopify.com domain of the correct store. NexReply sets up the direct API connection and checks that the app has access.
The Client secret is confidential. Do not share it by ordinary email, through the contact form or in a screenshot. For new connections, this route works only when the app and store belong to the same Shopify organisation.
Use an existing order from the last 60 days. Choose a shipped order if you also want to check available tracking.
Check with NexReply that the order number, items, quantities, payment status and fulfilment status match Shopify. Compare the carrier and tracking details if available.
If something is missing, check the store, approved permissions and order age. Test any order actions only by agreement. Do not enable automatic sending just to test the connection.
Contact us if you get stuck or order data is missing. Do not include passwords, tokens or Client secrets in the contact form.
